Asian Club

Asian Club has increased its activities at school since it began three years ago. The importance of the Asian Club is to allow students reach out to the other high school Asian Clubs.

“This is a great idea because in the past, our Asian Club has not been able to reach out to other high schools.” Club Advisor Ko Vue said.

As for Club President, Senior Lucky Yang, his goal is to get the members to be more active, more involved in the community, and with colleges.

“I feel like we are gaining a lot of experience and I have learned that to succeed, you need to be really organized.” said Asian Club Secretary Malinda Yang. Activities Director Lina Vang agrees. “The progress of the Asian Club this year compared to past years, we are more organized and fun.” Vang said.

“Everyone can bond, have fun, create good memories, and everyone can get something out of the experience.” Historian Crystal Lee said.

This year, many freshmen have joined. Freshman Shoua Yang hopes to have more fundraisers to make more money to have a great end of the year trip.

One successful fundraiser that was started last year is the Asian Dinner. This year, the Asian Dinner took place on October 31st. Tickets were purchased from any of the club members and dinner consisted of two eggrolls, chow mien, and fried rice, all for $8.00.

The success of this fundraiser depends on the members (the amount of tickets they sell). I hope to make money rather than lose some.” Vue said.

President Yang predicts the fundraiser to be very successful. “Who doesn’t like Chinese food?” she said.

Although the name is Asian Club, those of you who aren’t Asian are welcome to join. Meetings are usually held at lunch on Fridays, either in Mr. Brown’s room (F2) or Mr. Chris Vue’s room (A6). All students are welcome and invited to join the Asian club.
